Ballet in America was created as a space for real conversation — honest, insightful, and deeply connected to the people who live this art every day. From the studio to the stage, ballet is more than steps — it’s discipline, community, sacrifice, and a race against time.
Hosted by two-time Emmy Award-winning producer Christian Cudnik, the show explores ballet through the voices of dancers, educators, parents, and professionals. Each episode dives into the craft, culture, and challenges of ballet — highlighting the stories behind the spotlight.
Ballet in America continues the spirit of Ballet Initiative, the first podcast dedicated solely to ballet, which Christian launched in 2010. That series featured in-depth interviews with some of the most significant voices in the field, including Heather Watts, Jacques d’Amboise, Alicia Graf Mack, Tiler Peck, Jock Soto, and Joy Womack.
“Although I’m not a dancer, my interest in the art form began in 1998. As an artist, I see ballet as moving sculpture. As a producer, I’m drawn to its history — those iconic images from the Ballets Russes, or the kind of access Martha Swope had with her camera. I read the books, talk to the people, and interview as many artists as I can. This podcast is here to build community, support others, and help propagate the art of ballet. I believe Ballet in America can become to ballet what ESPN is to sports.” — Christian Cudnik
Whether you’re training, teaching, raising a dancer, or simply drawn to the beauty of the art, Ballet in America is a place to feel seen, understood, and inspired.
